Carcass of deer found on Hyderabad University campus
Sources said that the deer were chased and killed by a pack of dogs when the two wild animals were searching for drinking water sources.
Mancherial: Two spotted deer were mauled to death by stray dogs in CCC Township of Naspur mandal on Sunday. Another deer was killed in a similar incident at Bhurugupalli in Bheemaram mandal on Saturday night.
Sources said that the deer were chased and killed by a pack of dogs when the two wild animals were searching for drinking water sources. They entered a residence in order to rescue their lives, but in vain. Onlookers tried to save the animals but could not, said locals.
Forest officials burnt bodies of the animals after confirming the deaths by a veterinary doctor.
It is learnt that deer and wild pigs inhabiting forests near Srirampur stray into human habitations to quench their thirst following rise in temperatures. However, they are being killed by stray dogs.
It may be mentioned that two spotted deer were killed in Neelwai and Kannepalli forests within this fortnight, worrying forest officials. The deer are venturing out of the wild and are straying into human habitations only to get killed by dogs in the recent past. The disturbing trend is rampant following untimely rains registered in the last two weeks, said a forest official.

Three deer mauled to death by strays
The incident came to light when a few students saw the fawn lying dead with multiple injuries near South Campus.
Hyderabad: The carcass of a spotted deer was found on the University of Hyderabad (UoH) campus here on Thursday morning. The deer is believed to have been killed by stray dogs.
The incident came to light when a few students saw the fawn lying dead with multiple injuries near South Campus.
One more spotted deer has become prey for stray dogs and poachers on the campus as the university authority is chopping down the core part of the jungle for laying roads on the campus due to which several wild animals including spotted deer and wild boar are coming out of the jungle, a student said.
He said that the jungle near the South campus was a buffer zone for spotted deer and other animals and alleged that the deforestation by the university was damaging the eco-system.
Due to movement of heavy vehicles for clearing the area, all the animals are coming out of the forest, he said.
He said that on Monday, the carcass of a full-grown wild boar was found near the same area, with attack marks on the body.
According to University sources, in the last three months, at least 20 spotted deer on the UoH campus were killed by stray dogs and poachers.
