Brief report on videomonitoring of stray dogs in Moscow

Hordes of stray dogs are chasing homeless cats actively.
Section 4.1
Cats, while fleeing the dogs, are trying to save themselves on trees, in the basements and other shelters.
When hordes of stray dogs hunt, they drive cats up the trees, after which many cats are in a state of shock, and fear coming down. Some of the cats die of stress, cardiac rupture or injuries afterwards. Others try leaping down and run for safety. But sometimes this does not work. Often, the dogs catch up with the cats or the cats are run over by vehicles. For example, in Yusnogorskaya and Tarusskaya Streets, virtually in the same place, in the morning, they used to find the corpses of cats run over by vehicles. Our survey established that the local horde of stray dogs, inhabiting this very place, hunts cats actively every night and at dawn. The cats are driven up the trees growing near the carriage-way, then they are barked upon, or the dogs wait in silence for the cat to leap down. People in the street distract the dogs’ attention and they cease watching the cat in the tree. The cat leaps down and flees across the road for a refuge in the basement. By that time, however, the flow of transport is continuous, and the cat gets run over by a vehicle.

Shown in this section are four cases of the same horde of visiting cat-hunting stray dogs, every now and then coming to a small shrub-covered area at the corner of Golubinskaya and Tarusskaya Streets.
